About the Author

Some people move through this world feeling more like observers than participants. They can be found lying on their backs in the grass, looking up at the sky while others walk all around them. When that same sky starts to fall, they’ll be the ones we follow. Because they’ve seen this in their daydreams.

They’re outliers. And they’re who Madeleine writes for.

Madeleine writes science fiction and fantasy, with her current published series The Disc Chronicles being post-apocalyptic sci-fi. For her, asking “what if” is just too fun to resist.

Her debut novel, First Carrier, was released in 2020, and she’s been living in the world of writing since early childhood. When her first poem, Black, was laminated and hung on the fridge when she was seven, she was hooked.

In her books, she loves examining human nature, and two aspects of humanity you’ll often find in her fiction are (somewhat flawed) families and strong women. Readers have long described her writing as “dark,” but out of that darkness shines relentless hope. Not to mention comic relief and a dash of romance thrown in every once in a while.

When Madeleine’s not writing, you might find her in the garden with dirt under her fingernails or baking crusty bread in the kitchen of her mountain home. Probably with her noble German shepherd girl by her side.
